97th DOG Annual Meeting 1999

J. Steinhauer, A. Norda, K. Emmerich, H.-W. Meyer-RüsenbergIn the years from 1996 to 1998 47 patients with symptomatic stenosis of the canaliculus were treated by laser. It was used the erbium:yag-laser dealed by Schwind (sclerostom) with maximal power of 100mJ coupled at a short fiber of saphir. During the application of the laser the endoscopy wasn't used because of a sufficient manuell feeling of the perforation. Generally was found a pointsized stenosis of the canaliculus.

After treatment with laser a diagnostic endoscopy of the following parts of the lacrimal system and an intubation was done at all patients. The results were explored by question-naire and postop. check-up. It was demonstrated an improvement of epiphora in more than 75%. At the eyeclinic Hagen the conventional surgery of the canaliculus generally was displaced by the lasercanaliculoplastic.
